Ingredients: Onion Cheese Bread


鈥?1 tablespoon vegetable oil


鈥?3/4 cup finely diced onion


鈥?1/2 cup milk


鈥?1 egg, beaten


鈥?1 1/2 cups biscuit mix


鈥?1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar


鈥?1/2 teaspoon onion salt


鈥?2 tablespoons melted butter


鈥?1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives or parsley leaves


鈥?Butter, for serving


Directions


Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.


Heat the oil in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until tender, about 7 minutes.


In a large bowl, add the milk and egg to the biscuit mix, stirring just until the mix is moistened. Fold in the onions and 1/2 cup of the cheese.


Spoon the dough into a greased 8-inch round cake pan. Mix the onion salt into the melted butter and drizzle the mixture over the dough. Sprinkle the bread with chives or parsley and bake for 15 minutes. Top the bread with the remaining 1/2 cup cheese and bake until the bread is cooked through and the cheese top golden, about 5 minutes longer, Cut the bread into wedges and serve warm with butter

鈥?3 cups all-purpose flour


鈥?2 tablespoons sugar


鈥?2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder


鈥?1/2 teaspoon baking soda


鈥?1/2 teaspoon salt


鈥?1/2 cup vegetable shortening


鈥?1 cups buttermilk


鈥?1/4 cup melted unsalted butter





Directions


Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.


In a medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Cut in the shortening with a fork until it looks like cornmeal. Add the milk, a little at a time, stirring constantly until well mixed.


Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead lightly two or three times. Roll out the dough with a floured rolling pin to 12-inch thickness. Cut with a 2-inch cutter.


Place the biscuits in a greased iron skillet. Gently press down top of biscuits. Brush the biscuits with half the melted butter. Bake for 14 minutes or until golden brown. Brush the hot biscuits with the remaining butter.

鈥?1 (17.3-ounce) package frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed


鈥?1 cup freshly grated Parmesan


鈥?1 teaspoon dried basil


鈥?1/4 teaspoon garlic powder


鈥?1/4 cup butter, melted


Directions


Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly grease a baking sheet.


On a lightly floured surface, unfold pastry sheets. Cut each sheet into 13 strips, about 3/4 by 10-inches apiece.


In a shallow dish, combine cheese, basil, and garlic. Brush pastry sticks with melted butter. Roll pastry in cheese mixture, lightly coating each side. Gently twist pastry sticks, and place on a prepared baking sheet.


Ingredients: Corn and Green Chilies Muffins

Vegetable oil cooking spray


鈥?1 1/4 cups stone-ground cornmeal


鈥?1/2 teaspoon salt


鈥?2 teaspoons baking powder


鈥?1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar


鈥?1 (8-ounce) can cream-style corn


鈥?1 cup sour cream


鈥?1 (4-ounce) can chopped green chiles


鈥?1/2 cup canola oil


鈥?2 large eggs, lightly beaten


Directions


Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Spray miniature muffin tins with vegetable oil cooking spray.


In a small mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, salt and baking powder, stirring with a metal spoon. Add the cheese, corn, sour cream, and chiles. Stir until lightly combined. Add the oil and eggs and stir until everything is just combined; do not over mix. The batter will be very stiff.


Place about 1/2 tablespoon of batter into each muffin cup. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes. Serve warm.

ORANGE SHORT BREAD :





4 oz. plain flour


2 oz. corn flour


4 oz. butter


2 oz. sugar


1 orange rind, grated





Sieve flours together. Cream butter until it is soft. Add the 2 ounces of sugar and beat until the mixture is pale and creamy. Add orange rind, then work in flour mixture, 1 tablespoon at a time. Should form a soft dough. Lift short bread onto a large baking tray and roll out to an 8 inch circle.








SHORT BREAD COOKIES :





1 c. butter


1 c. Crisco


1 c. white sugar


1/4 c. brown sugar


1/2 tsp. vanilla


5 c. flour





Mix ingredients and roll out 3/8'; thick on a floured rolling cloth. Cut figures. Place on a cookie sheet, prick with fork, sprinkle on colored sugar or white sugar. Place in a 325 degree oven until short bread turns a light color. Cool for five minutes and then place on an open rack.








SCOTCH SHORT BREAD :





1 c. rice flour


1 c., 1 oz. sugar


4 c. flour


Pinch of salt


1 lb. real butter





Kneed ingredients by hand and place in a shallow pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Take out and pierce top all over with a fork while hot, and cut.








DUNDEE SCOTCH SHORT BREAD :





This recipe was brought to Dundee, Illinois in 1860 by Scottish immigrants and is still a favorite cookie today.





1 c. butter


2 c. sifted flour


1/2 c. granulated sugar





Cream butter well. Stir in sugar and flour. Knead with hands 10 minutes (children love to help). Turn out onto a well-floured board. Roll into 1-inch thick circle. Place onto cookie sheet. Mark your initial or a pattern in the dough with tines of a fork (let children create a design of their own).


Bake in 325 degree oven for 30 minutes or until edges are brown. Cool, sift powdered sugar on top after baking. Cut into squares. Keeps well in covered container.Would Someone tell me 4 SHORT QUICK BREAD RECIPES?
