What is you favorite homemade Corn Bread recipe, or is there a site that has a great recipe?
This is my good friend Sara's recipe. Hope she wasn't wanting to answer this question. LOL

    Ingredients

    2/3 Cups Flour

2 Cups Corn Meal - white or yellow whichever you prefer

    3 Tbs Baking Powder

    3/4 Tsp Salt

    1 Egg

    2 Tbs Sugar

    1 1/2 Cups Milk

3 Tbs Oil (I use olive oil, but any kind will do.)

    Preheat oven to 400掳F.

I use a cast iron skillet to bake my cornbread in because that is what my mother did and it makes the cornbread nice and crispy around the outside. However, a 9 x13 inch baking dish, or something that hold about the same amount will do.

Put the oil into the baking pan and put it in the oven while it is preheating. Or if you are using a skillet, you can heat the oil in the skillet on your stove top.

Everything else goes into a large mixing bowl. Add the milk last. Stir to mix it well.

Remove the hot dish from the oven. Swirl the dish to coat it with the oil, and pour the oil into the batter and stir to combine. Hand sprinkle just a little flower evenly

into the pan. Don't worry if you miss a few spots. No big deal

Pour the batter into the pan, and bake 25 to 30 minutes or until brown. The cornbread will begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.

If you want her dressing recipe to go with it, just let me know. What is you favorite homemade Corn Bread recipe, or is there a site that has a great recipe?
Sorry to tell you I don't measure anything so I can't give a recipe but I will tell you the ingredients.

Start with a can of cream corn, buttermilk, canola oil and good quality corn meal. I just sort of know what texture it should be.
I don't think you can beat Jiffy Corn Bread mix. I have made all kinds of different recipes and can't get anywhere close to Jiffy.
I think Lulubelle is right. You could ask The Country Buffet people. They have a very nice cornbread. ;-)

    Tsoureki the easter bread

I'm looking for a good banana bread recipe?

I had a really good one, but now I've lost it! I've tried a couple from websites, but didn't like them, any not-so-secret recipes you might share?

Thanks!I'm looking for a good banana bread recipe?
I have been making this recipe for years. I've tried others here and there, but I keep coming back to this one. It's a simple and easy recipe; you combine virtually all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix, so you don't have to create a dry mix and a wet mix (and dirty 2 bowls!) as you do in many muffin and quick bread recipes.

    The recipe is for Chocolate Chip Banana Bread, but if you don't want the chocolate, just omit them and you will have a great banana bread. I usually do not bother getting the mixer out to blend this batter; it is fine to do it by hand with a spoon. Also, you can use either regular shortening or butter-flavored shortening. The recipe comes from a cookbook called ';Great American Brand Name Recipes Cookbook.';

    Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

    2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour

    1 cup sugar

    1 teaspoon baking powder

    1 teaspoon salt

    1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 3 small)

    1/2 cup shortening

    2 eggs

1 cup semi-sweet mini chocolate chips

    1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Grease bottom only of a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan; set aside. Combine all ingredients except mini chips and walnuts in a large mixer bowl; blend well on medium speed. Stir in mini chips and walnuts.

Pour into prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 60-80 minutes or until a cake tester inserted in middle comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack. Yield: 1 loaf

If I double a bread recipe, do I double the rising time?

I am making whole wheat rolls...If I double a bread recipe, do I double the rising time?
No. However, rising depends on yeast quality and temperature. There is no such thing as a ';set'; rising time. Recipes can only give an approximate rising time. There are too many factors involved to be exact. Humidity, temperature, type of flour, how the dough was mixed, etc., all play a factor in how long it takes for dough to rise. Accurate recipes will not even mention a rising time. They'll usually say something like: ';until the dough doubles';.If I double a bread recipe, do I double the rising time?
No, you do not double the rising time whether you double or triple the recipe. Just make more of the rolls and let them rise for the same amount of time as you would a single batch.
    no - same timing. .
no but you MAY leave it in there maybe 5miin longer or so. just watch it
